Baby Baking - You Get The Picture

I had a great time this week at my friend’s house, Baby Baking!  Not baking babies, of course, but we, the babies, doing the baking.  Of biscuits.
My friend’s mummy is very organised and she had a bowl for each of us, our own wooden spoon, we all used our own ingredients.  Mixing wasn’t really my forte – it might be better described as ‘pounding’ – but it was great fun!  Mummies helped a bit, just to make sure the lumps were evenly spread to the biscuits were edible.
We baked them before lunch, let them cool while we chowed down, and then the artistic brilliance began with icing the biscuits.  Wow! Who knew making mess could be so sticky?! Now, our attention span, being small, meant that we didn’t ice long before we started kicking a ball around.  That meant the mummies had a bit of time to ‘salvage’ the biscuits.
And here they are!  Ta-dah!

What have your little ones been creating this week?

You Get The Picture!

This week, You Get The Picture is doubling up because I’m also entering the Yummy Food competition over at A Boy With Asperger's  with Appliances Online – draw your favourite food, link up, and have the chance to win £100 in Amazon vouchers.  Not bad, eh?  Must look into sorting out some prizes myself.

Mummy helped me with my favourite foods. In fact, it’s my Grandpa’s broccoli and cauliflower cheese, but Mummy didn’t think she could draw that so you’ve got a strawberry, a banana and a cupcake, coloured in by moi.

By all means link up with A Boy With Asperger’s too, or draw/paint/create whatever you like and just add it below. I really love seeing them.

You Get The Picture

So, a day later than normal, I’m posting my artwork. I think I’ll move the ‘start’ day for You Get The Picture because of everybody and their dog doing SatCap at Mammasaurus!
This week, I have a painting for your perusal – it’s one that’s been incorporated onto my thank-you cards for Christmas presents. Remember, any creation goes as far as linking up is concerned, as long as your little ones were the main contributor.

You Get The Picture - It's Back!

I know Christmas is officially over for another year and Twelfth Night has passed now however you count it, but because I gave this meme a rest over the festive period, I didn’t get a chance to show you my angel. Here she is. She was my Christmas card to Mummy and Daddy.

So, what have you got for me this week?

You Get The Picture!

So, roll up, last time for 2011, let’s see your kiddies’ artistic creations.  I’m sure there must be lots of Christmassy efforts out there.
Saying that, mine is not in the least bit festive.  Having promised you a salt-dough masterpiece of some description, I must confess to a bit of a fail.  In fact, it was quite a big Mummy Fail.  Salt dough must be amongst the easiest receipes IN THE WORLD: 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of water, 2 cups of flour.  That’s it.  Mummy still managed to b*lls it up.  She got the ingredients the wrong way round and after adding a little bit more salt and flour, then a little bit more and another pinch or two for good measure, the mixture still didn’t look very dough-like so we ditched it, checked the receipe and started again.
By the time we had dough, I was quite ready to throw it around the kitchen rather than make anything with it, and the footprint I did make still isn’t dry five days later.  So today we’ve had a bit of a shot at Play Doh.  I ate quite a lot, but I did lend Mummy my hand long enough to do a hand print.

I look forward, as ever, to seeing your efforts.

You Get The Picture

Yay! We’re getting so close to Christmas now!  I’m so excited already!
We have another couple of You Get The Pictures to get through before then, starting now – I’ll give it a couple of weeks break over the festive period.
So, in case you’re new here, the idea is simple. You upload a picture of some sort of artwork created by your children; painting, photos, chalk, crayons, or any other medium.  If you want to add words, fine, if you don’t, fine too.  There are no rules.
I am making one small change this week and that is to keep the linky open all week.
My picture this week is another painting.  Hope I’m not too predictable with my paint; I have a salt dough masterpiece in the making for next week, I promise.  In the meantime, here’s my dragon on canvas.

So, link ‘em up!

You Get The Picture

Welcome to the weekend, everyone!  Hope you have fun whatever you’re up to.  I met Santa last night so we’re now feeling really Christmassy in our house.
This is You Get The Picture, my weekly chance to share your artistic creations. Link up any paintings, drawings, Blue Peter-style loo roll animals, photos etc and have a look at the other entries.
I’m away this weekend but I can’t wait to see your creations when I get home tomorrow night.
Here’s my effort for this week:

You Get The Picture

I have another glitter masterpiece for you this week, this time using paint, too. For me, this is one of the very best things about nursery – I get to ‘create’ with glitter far more frequently than Mummy and Daddy would ever allow!

I’m looking forward to seeing some more pictures from talented young artists, so link ‘em up! Don’t forget, the ‘no rules’ rule of You Get The Picture is that anything goes; pictures, models, other creations, photos (including shots of artists in action) – whatever you’ve been impressed by this week, or just fancy sharing this week.
Here’s the list . . .

You Get The Picture

Yay! It’s “You Get The Picture” 2!  Back for its second week, my new weekend-long meme is a chance to showcase your children’s artwork or photos, from any time, with or without accompanying words.
My entry this week is a felt pen on paper effort, what Mummy has entitled, “Blue Rage.”  I was playing with Mummy and Daddy this week and I found Mummy’s headphones.  Silly or her to leave them within reach, I agree.  I started twisting and stretching them till Daddy could take it no more and asked me to give them to him.  “Get your own,” I thought, and told him quiet firmly, “No!”
He asked another couple of times, then counted to three.  On three I got up, walked over to him, reached out my hand with the headphones but then swiped it back before he took them, and ran off laughing.
I was quite affronted when he then took them away, and that’s where the rage bit came in.  Rage on his part too that he’d been mocked by a one-year-old.  Mummy was stifling a laugh. She thinks I didn’t see but I did.

(Please excuse the big white spot in the middle - it's the flash bouncing off plastic because this work of art is laminated!)
And now it’s your turn!

You Get The Picture!

Welcome to “You Get The Picture!”  It’s very simple.  I love looking at pictures, whether photos or handcrafted masterpieces.  I particularly love those that tell a story or that really show a lot of effort and love has gone into it.
There are some great photo memes out there already, but I don’t think there’s one that includes children’s drawings and paintings, and I think they’re the lovely things that should be cherished and shared.  I think too often ‘masterpieces’ are filed away there isn’t enough space for them all on the walls, or they upset the decor, and certainly these days people take more photos than they ever print.  This is your chance to share them!
There are no rules to “You Get The Picture.”  You can just post a picture or photo, or you can elaborate and add words as well.  A lengthy essay, if you really want to.  Anyone can join in – you don’t need to follow me or have commented on anything I’ve done, and if you join in this week, you’re not committed to posting next week.  I won’t even be upset if you never join in again.
All I ask is that you have a look at some of the other entries (fingers crossed for some of them!) Oh, and tell your friends!
So, here’s my first picture.  It’s inspired by the fireworks we saw last weekend and it’s created using glue and glitter.

The linky will open at 00:01 tonight and stay open over the weekend until 23:59 on Sunday.

There will be a badge and a page but I’m having a few technical difficulties again.  Sorry!
